Our First Weeks in 1st Grade

Our Word Trees
We read the adorable book Rocket Writes a Story and saw how Rocket collected words in his world and kept them in a tree. He used the words to be inspired to write his first story. We went around our room and collected words in a Word tree. Now the trees are in our writing folder to inspire us to write stories this year!
Happy Apple Day!
We enjoyed eating our apple snacks outside at Snack Time! We used our apple snacks to describe what apples look like, sound like, feel like, taste like and smell like!
Happy Halloween
We played many fun learning games on Halloween! From Spooky Bingo to searching for Halloween words, we had a blast! We also loved our Halloween party where we also got to make spooky creatures out of playdoh. Check out our fun costumes!
CREEPY CARROTS
For Halloween, we listened to the story Creepy Carrots. Then, we made carrots and hid them around the room! We also wrote about if we thought the Creepy Carrots were real or Jasper's imagination. See where our first graders hid their carrots.

Our Author Celebration
After working so hard on writing small moment stories, we took time to celebrate our hard work by sharing one small moment we wrote with classmates. The students loved listening to each other's stories. They were all unique and so well written!
